Idli made of rice and urad dal and served with sambar is a healthy gluten free South Indian breakfast, which is considered to be the complete meal.

The tangy, spicy, aroma rich sambar with dal and vegetables is a very popular companion dish to go with idli, but chutneys are also commonly served in most homes and restaurants.


If you are travelling to India, please avoid uncooked chutneys for the first week or two until your body is accustomed to the local water!
