We have recently returned home from India to Australia after a 21-day tour, “Threads of Tradition” with Joji Jacob, All Things India Travel company based in Wellington, New Zealand.
This was my fifth visit to India and I would have to say surpassed all my expectations. I came upon ATI Travel by pure chance while searching the internet for small group textile tours. I knew immediately upon reading the itinerary that it had all the ingredients for an amazing tour e.g. maximum group size 10, a focus interest in textiles along with numerous other handicrafts, architecture, nature, using all modes of transport on offer in India and with accommodation varying from the mud hut eco-resorts, safari lodge, historic properties and the top Taj hotels. Each and every one of them turned out to offer a unique and never to be forgotten wonderful experience.
Hardly a day went by that we didn’t enjoy an unplanned interaction with the local village people, entirely due to Joji’s ability to seize an opportunity, without quite knowing where it may lead, and always his gentle and generous personality resulted in so many memorable and serendipity highlights.
Of course, India would not be so intoxicating and exotic without the beautiful and welcoming people wearing fabrics in every colour of the rainbow, the chaotic traffic in the cities where you can’t help noticing the drivers manage to weave in and out between people, animals and every other imaginable form of transport without aggression.
Personally, I have always felt safe in India and always eaten cooked or peeled fruit and vegetables, never drinking tap water, therefore have not experienced any illness. The food is delicious and on this occasion we were thoroughly spoilt as we always encouraged Joji to order our meals and were never disappointed.
From remote country areas to huge cities and the salt desert to the sea this was a magical tour. Thank you All Things India.
